The team chose German 1. 4116 stainless steel for its ability to hold an edge over timestrong enough to slice through bone, yet resistant to rust and staining. But sharpness wasnt enough. The pivot was made adjustable, so tension could be fine tuned as the shears aged. If a part wore down, it could be replaced, not tossed.
