For roughly an eight year period, The Thing slogged around the NY area, playing in dingy clubs and putting out a handful of records that combined a love of Hawkwind and 70's era space psych rock with a grungy noise rock assault. It's an eccentric sound that sort of resembles the missing link between the high power stoner rock of Monster Magnet and the sleazy, amp blowing noise skuzz of Lower East Side
