نوبل انعام یافتہ ادیب ، میخائل شولوخوف (1905-1984) ، دنیا کے بڑے جدید ادیبوں میں سے ایک تھے۔ Virgin Soil Upturned جو کہ شولوخوف دوسرا ناول تھا کا 75 زبانوں میں ترجمہ ہوچکا ہے اور تیس ملین سے زیادہ کاپیاں میں شائع ہوا ہے۔ 1932 میں جریدے نووی میر (Journal Novy Mir) نے ناول کا پہلا حصہ شائع کی (Seeds of Tomorrow 1932)
