The note is dated on Christmas Day 1854, Barton signs "'Dinna forget' Clara B." That same year Barton was appointed the first woman clerk in the U. S. Patent Office. As far as we can tell this is one of the earliest if not the earliest autograph of Clara Barton currently in private hands.
