Don't go cheap on your Chahai or strainer :) Pour your tea from your brewing vessel into this decanter. It effectually stops the brewing process and lets the tea cool down a bit. It's then used to pour out the tea into your own cup or your tea guest's cups. That's why some people call it a "Gongbei" or sharing
