Even when Wizards (the company) isnt specifically working on a typal-themed product, they seem to be much more deliberate about what creature types they put on cards: we see far fewer incidental humans than we once did, a greater variety of types used in general, and some real efforts to gradually reinforce a core mechanical identity for even the most humble Brushwaggs and Pests of the world

Its also nice that it has no additional requirements to transform into a saga besides paying the cost
It is incredibly well balanced, without the two life it would just be the Lightning Bolt of the discard spells with no reason ever not to pick and play it first
It saw a decent amount of play in Standard, and it still shows up from time to time in Pioneer
The Aetherspark and Mox Jasper do exciting things, but neither card is even remotely viable in eternal formats like Legacy and Vintage
