The idea of Black Mage Aggro is to make a ton of Black Mage tokens and cast multiple noncreature spells to make them deal damage, so you never even need to attack your opponent to beat them

Do this until you run out of your library and are left with a perfectly sculpted hand

You know how Mono-Green Devotion is so devastating because they can play multiple copies of Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx in one turn to make oodles of mana

It gets particularly interesting in a deck that can generate extra combat phases since you can get even more value out of the Battleshaper when you have more than one combat per turn

Hopefully this list highlights that Gruul is a little less one-note than it seems, even if that one note tends to find its way into the more provocative commanders as well

It could get there as an Overcome effect that can be cast from your value filter effect, but it being seen from a mile away doesnt help
