This characteristic of Magic where the more players got into it and got into the tournaments, the more it became a constructed game and the cards became a commodity - I mean, that's a good game
It is a fairly safe card for Standard in that it gives black decks a way to fend off unfair late-game spells like planeswalkers without much investment
