A beautiful scene of french canyon falls comes into view as you climb up the bedrock through the french canyon creek at Starved Rock State Park

it looked like it was now going to downpour and I headed back to the trailhead

Watching the colors of the sunrise shift from a purple hue to orange and then blue as those colors are reflected onto a calm and peaceful Wildflower Lake with iris vericolor blooms in the foreground

They were moving about the branches like they were having a good time but

ENJOYING THE MORNING AT THE LAKE DOWNY WOODPECKER I enjoy photographing the freshIt was a cool August summer morning when I arrived at the trailhead to Bierstadt Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park. I started up the steep trail at 5: 15 am to catch the sunrise at the lake and the Continental Divide. It would take me just under an hour to reach the lake. There are numerous switchbacks leading up the mountain through some stands of aspen trees. After about 20 minutes, I no longer needed my headlamp to guide my way up the mountain.
