Chet Atkins was a country music superstar at the time, had a hit song called Country Gentleman, and was a true country gentleman himself. So Gretsch teamed up with him and a legend was borne. Years ago when I heard there was a guitar called a Gretsch County Gentleman, I wanted one bad. Still not sure why. George played one with the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show in 1963.
