For starters, we're playing in Simic colors, and so the usual ramping tools are needed
Thats not to say you cant play any way to counter your opponents spells, but you need to run modal spells like Cryptic Command that can still be useful when cast during your upkeep a few turns later
This creates balance issues because any huge monster thats good enough to play in other decks is usually better in goodstuff
