The aftermath mechanic was first introduced in the Amonkhet expansion of Magic: The Gathering
Either decision ends up benefiting the player with Esper Sentinel, making the card a nightmare to play against for these decks
Putting aside the new characters and mechanics aside, I adore this sets design
But if youre playing a deck like Jetmir, Nexus of Revels that cares about going wide, you care much more about blanket protection from board wipes
You usually get to cast them until the end of the current or following turn
Although it fits a nice spot on the curve, you dont need to play it on turn three against the red removal decks, and instead can wait until Ajani, Adversary of Tyrants or Lyra Dawnbringer can help it survive those removal spells when youre not under too much pressure
