If a creature with a survival ability isn't tapped when your second main phase begins, the ability won't trigger at all
This leads to moments where youll be sitting on top of an absolutely disgusting card just waiting for the right moment to cast it, only to find out that your opponent has somehow opened up a pack almost entirely comprised of countermagic
Starter Decks always pack a lot of vanilla cards, which never see play in the competitive world
Portal Mage [Wizard]: It will only mess up one creature, but that could be useful, especially if you have it attack something with indestructible or deathtouch
The best fit would certainly be Heliod, Sun-Crowned, as the devotion will help the god be a creature and the lifegain will be used to passively add +1/+1 counters to creatures and trigger other lifegain cards
The one exception is possibly with so many Eldrazi with cast triggers now you could use this to get your Ulamog or something else back that you want to recast if you have absurd amounts of mana but somehow no cards
