Mindwhisker is a solid card for any Dimir deck, and while it's not a wrath by any means, sticking around on the battlefield while you beat your opponent to death with 2/4 unblockables makes it a pretty useful piece of the puzzle
But the quality that separates the Trials from normal spells with weird typing is that they arent actually one-time effects
The card carries on that Mega Evolution-era tradition of displaying the pre-evolution stages or, in Mega Zygardes case, its 10%, 50%, and 100% forms in the background of the artwork

This wouldnt be much of a red+ sacrifice deck without Goblin Bombardment
Playing this alongside another two drop is still interesting, but two damage for two mana is overcosted enough that you want to make sure you can trigger the draw effect as consistently as possible
