While this selection is not likely a true cross between 'Mikawa yatsubusa' and 'Sharp's Pygmy', one could see that this Japanese maple gives a 'Mikawa like' appearance with a little 'Sharp's Pygmy' flare. 'Mikawa x Sharps' has a tightly layering habit, but with more divided and pointed foliage that is smaller
