They are not a toy, however they can be loved and used as a comforter for a dog who loves to hold something in their mouth or bring you your shoes. In fact the original name for the bone baby was the shoe saver. They have no squeak so give a sensory response rather than an excitable high pitched frenzy inducing response. Perfect for daft retrievers
